Asia's Obsession: Web3 Games Merge with Iconic Collectible Traditions

Web3 gaming is gaining traction in Asia, thanks to a strong alignment with popular collectible-driven games in the region. Robbie Ferguson, co-founder of Immutable, a web3 gaming company, highlights the genre-fit between existing Asian games and web3 gaming. This trend is shaping the crypto gaming industry towards Asia, while Western countries show less enthusiasm. Immutable's platform facilitates Ethereum-based web3 game development, attracting big names like GameStop and TikTok. Japan's prime minister also supports web3, considering it a part of the new capitalism, further emphasizing the region's focus on this emerging technology.

Coca-Cola's Digital Canvas: NFT Art Bottles Sparkle on Coinbase's Base

Coca-Cola embraces Web3 again with an NFT collection tied to its "Masterpiece" campaign, collaborating with Coinbase. The collection features digital Coca-Cola bottles adorned with artworks like Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” and Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” Despite favoring AI over Web3, Coca-Cola launches NFTs as part of Coinbase's "Onchain Summer" to celebrate the launch of Base, a layer-2 blockchain for faster and cheaper transactions. The move contrasts with the industry downturn in Web3 and NFTs due to crypto's decline and royalty payment issues. The NFTs, including eight tokens, were released for 72 hours with prices ranging from ~$2 to ~$26.

Dubai's Smart Economy Strategy: Subsidized Licenses Galvanize AI, Web3 Firms

Dubai is set to issue commercial licenses to facilitate AI and Web3 companies' establishment, with licenses 90% subsidized. The move aligns with UAE's efforts to promote these sectors and attract investment. Administered through the AI and Web 3.0 Campus in Dubai International Financial Centre, the licenses will support the emirate's digital society push. Activities encompass distributed ledger tech, specialized AI research, IT infrastructure, technology R&D, and public networking services. The initiative is aimed at fostering collaboration, innovation, and attracting global talent and investment. The campus aims to become a major hub for AI and Web3 companies, targeting 500 tech businesses and $300 million in funds by 2028.
